Thank you for accepting the challenge to be a “Best in Ohio” Connect to Nature School/Site! Your efforts help our children to become healthier, happier, and smarter!
Thank You for your interest in accepting the challenge to be “A Best in Ohio” Connect to Nature School or Site which will help our children be Happier, Healthier and Smarter! In 2010 the State of Ohio followed by 28 local Miami Valley municipalities adopted the Ohio Children’s Outdoor Bill of Rights outlining 9 rights all children should have encouragement and access to nature to exercise. Miami Valley Leave No Child Inside and Dayton Regional Green have created this award and criteria with community input to recognize institutions helping our children enact these rights. This award is issued to any individual park, school or other site based institution, but it cannot be used to award an entire school district, park district, large multi-facility library etc. Each of those sites should apply for this recognition individually.

School Award Details

Review the supplemental materials and prepare the answers before entering them on the Google form. You can save the form and return to complete it later, however you must have a password.
​
Schools receiving the Connect to Nature Award can request an assembly-style ceremony for their whole school!
​
Award includes a door decal and a metal sign. Some agencies have offered to sponsor a banner for schools in their districts.
​
Banner Designs and additional signage designs are available to have made at the vendor of your choice.

Sites receiving the Connect to Nature Award can be recognized at their locations with a presentation or, they can be recognized at an upcoming event or training.
​
Award includes a door decal and a metal sign.

to Our Latest Winner!
Wildflower Child and Family Center is now a Connect to Nature School award winner!
Wildflower Child & Family Center is a nature-based preschool child care center serving three through five year olds in the Huber Heights community. Full for their first year that began this fall, Wildflower CFC is a Gold Star Step Up To Quality rated center licensed through the Department of Youth and Children.
The award was acknowledged at our November 2024 Board Meeting.
